Skate Profiling for Goalies

Thanks to new technologies, now you can try custom skate profiling for goalies and enjoy the positive impacts on your mobility. The correct skate profile can maximize acceleration, agility, speed, and stability.  In most cases, a new profile combined with a shallower hollow will put less stress on your hips, groin, and knees leading to fewer injuries without negatively impacting the bite needed for explosive movements. Modern professional goalies have had access to goalie specific profiles for quite some time.  They understand the importance of skate profiling.

Description

The manufacturer who made your skates doesn’t know you.  They don’t know your style of play, tendencies, or habits.  How could they possibly select a skate profile for goalies that is best for you and every other goalie who buys the same state?  Most brand new goalie skates come with around a 30’ profile.  This is a stark change from the old days where goalies wanted their steel as flat as possible.

Modern professional goalies have had access to goalie specific profiles for quite some time.  They understand the importance of skate profiling.  Techniques have significantly changed over the years, and extreme mobility has become a pinnacle of the position.

Profiling goalie skates is relatively new as a service available to the general public.  Here at Simmons, we are goalies.  We understand that goalies are different, and have the expertise and equipment to meet the needs of a modern goaltender.

How do I select the right skate profiling for goalies?

Don’t worry if you aren’t sure where to start.  Give us a call and we will walk you through the pro’s and cons of each profile.  Not sure where to start?  We recommend trying the Goalie Sam profile for younger goalies, advanced skaters, or goalies who also play forward.  If you’re a more experienced goalie who has never changed your skate profile, we recommend starting off with the Goalie Win.

Once you have the right skate profile for your style of play, you will never want to have an off the shelf skate profile again.  Our state of the art ProSharp AS2001 machine can easily provide up to four different curve radii on every blade.

For our mail-in customers, we recommend you mail in your loose steel in a USPS flat rate envelope and tape them to the inside of the package.  This is very important, as blades will punch through the side of the envelope and get lost if not properly secured. Loose steel reduces shipping costs, we do NOT require the entire skate to be mailed.
